A relative of the injured persons told the media that the boy, while playing in a field adjacent to their house, found a bag and brought it home out of curiosity. When the bag was opened family members were shocked to see a crude bomb inside it and asked the boy to dump the bag where he had found it. The boy’s grandmother Anwara Bibi, also went with him. “As soon as they stepped out of the house, the bomb exploded, injuring the two. They were rushed to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital by local residents,” the relative told media persons.

However, some villagers, on condition of anonymity, told media persons that crude bombs were stored inside the house. “Crude bombs were being stored in the house which exploded. People familiar with the matter said that while the boy suffered some serious injuries in the lower portion of the body, the woman suffered a splinter injury near her neck.

Doctors said their condition is stable.
