Building a ‘new UP of a new India’: Yogi

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that Uttar Pradesh has evolved into the “new Uttar Pradesh of a new India,” with transparency and efficiency shaping its governance. Addressing an event where appointment letters were distributed to 283 newly selected medical officers and junior laboratory assistants, he credited the state’s recruitment reforms for streamlining job opportunities.

The CM said that over the past eight years, 8.3 lakh youths have secured government jobs, a process that could have been delayed indefinitely without transparent recruitment. “Had these appointments not been conducted honestly, they would have been entangled in legal disputes, with no recruitment completed,” he said.

He also pointed out past concerns over recruitment bodies such as the UPPSC, UPSSSC, and the Police Recruitment Board. “At that time, Uttar Pradesh was labeled a ‘BIMARU state,’ but in reality, it was the flawed system that was ailing. Indecisiveness had left every section of society in distress,” he said.

CM Yogi stated that the present administration has ensured that selection processes are conducted fairly. “In the past eight years, 1,56,000 police personnel have been recruited, and recently, the selection process for an additional 60,200 policemen has been completed,” he added.

During the event, CM Yogi also outlined efforts to strengthen the AYUSH sector in Uttar Pradesh. He said that the state has taken steps toward establishing an AYUSH University while expanding healthcare facilities. Uttar Pradesh currently operates 2,114 Ayurveda hospitals, 254 Unani hospitals, and 1,585 Homeopathy hospitals, the CM said.

“The construction of AYUSH hospitals in Lucknow and Pilibhit is nearing completion, while 15 districts already have 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals, with more under development,” he said.

CM Yogi underscored the role of forensic science in crime investigation and timely justice. “Earlier, Uttar Pradesh had only four forensic science laboratories; today, the number has increased to 12, with six more under construction. The government plans to establish FSL labs at every range level and deploy two mobile forensic labs in each district,” he said.

He also mentioned that the newly established Uttar Pradesh State Forensic Institute will offer diploma and degree courses to train forensic experts.

Citing Azamgarh as an example of the state’s transformation, CM Yogi said, “There was a time when the youth of Azamgarh struggled to find accommodation in hotels or Dharamshalas. Today, skilled technical professionals from the region are being selected for roles in forensic science labs.” With the establishment of Maharaj Suheldev University, an airport, and better connectivity, he said Azamgarh is carving out a new identity.
