Two FIRs filed in Agra after attack on SP MP Ramjilal Suman’s home over his comments on Rana Sanga, leading to injuries and property damage.

Two cases were registered at Agra’s Hari Parvat police station early on Thursday for attempt to murder and other offences in connection with the attack on the residence of Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member Ramjilal Suman on Wednesday in protest against his controversial remarks on medieval Rajput ruler Rana Sanga. While one FIR names Karni Sena leader Okendra Singh Rana and the group led by him, the other is against unidentified people.

The first FIR is by the SP MP’s son Ranjit Suman, who was inside the house at time of the attack. This FIR was registered under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 191(2) (rioting), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), (damage to property), 309(4) (offence against property) and 333 (house tresspass) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.

This FIR was lodged against a mob of unidentified men who attacked the house of SP MP at 2 pm on Wednesday and damaged cars parked and made an attempt to murder, complained Ranjit Suman.

Ranjit Suman also alleged that the attack came after threats on social media for the past few days in a planned manner.

The other FIR was filed under Sections 324(4) (mischief causing loss), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) 223 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) of the BNS. In this case, the complainant is a security guard at the house of Ramjilal Suman in Agra.

The FIR mentions that a group led by Okendra Singh Rana pelted the house of SP MP Ramjilal Suman with stones, injuring security guards, including the complainant.

Karni Sena people on Wednesday resorted to vandalism outside the residence of Ramjilal Suman in Agra in protest against his last week’s remark cited as an insult to medieval ruler Rana Sanga.

The attackers could not enter the house but damaged chairs outside the ground floor apartment and cars parked nearby. Several police personnel, including the in-charge of the Hariparvat police station, were injured while trying to stop the activists, according to the police.
